President David O McKay taught that every Latter-day Saint should be involved in missionary work. Being a missionary does not require an official calling, setting apart, or a black name badge. Rather, EVERY member in His church is a missionary. President McKay preached that “The responsibility rests upon the membership of the Church to preach the restored gospel to every nation, kindred, tongue and people.” In Matthew 5:14-16 we read, “Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your father which is in heaven.” As members of the Pine Creek ward, WE can be the light of the world. WE can live such that those who interact with us want to glorify our heavenly father. WE can be missionaries as we strive to bring the His Gospel to the world at all times, in all things, and all places.
In the April 2022 general conference, Elder Gary E. Stevenson shared a beautiful message concerning missionary work in his talk titled “Love, Share, Invite”. As Christ’s disciples we have been commissioned with the sacred and solemn opportunity to bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world. While this commission may seem overwhelming, Elder Stevenson declares that through “simple, easily understandable principles taught to each of us from childhood: love, share, and invite” we can “take part in that great and glorious work that prepares the earth for the return of its Messiah”. We invite you to listen to his address below to better understand the importance of these three principles as they pertain to the literal gathering of Israel. Below we have also included pertinent scriptures, conference talks, and videos that you and your family can view as you strive to share the His Gospel through the principles of love, share, and invite.

The first step in being a disciple of Jesus Christ is to love. In Mathew 22:36-39, we read, "Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all they heart, and with all they should, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself". In the October 2021 general conference, Elder Ulisses Soares teaches of Christ's Abiding Compassion. In his talk, he reminds us that the expression of compassion for others is the essence of the gospel of Jesus Christ. As we strive to love our brothers and sisters throughout our community, we come the missionaries our father in heaven is counting on us to become.

Sharing the gospel is fun! It does not require a PhD in Bible or Religious studies but rather a heartfelt testimony of what you know to be true in your heart through spiritual witnesses and assurance given by the Holy Ghost. In the April 2022 general conference, President Russell M. Nelson emphasized that “We have the sacred responsibility to share the power and peace of Jesus Christ with all who will listen”. Elder Cook stressed that “Our personal conversion includes the responsibility to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with the world”.

Inviting others to learn about the gospel of Jesus Christ is natural! It should be a normal part of everyday life for members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In the October 2021 general conference, Elder Stevenson emphasizes our divinely appointed responsibilities, namely “1. Living the gospel of Jesus Christ, 2. Caring for those in need, 3. Inviting all to receive the gospel, and 4. Uniting families for eternity”. In this address, he shares captivating story of a young man named Cleiton of Cape Verde who brought many people to the gospel of Jesus Christ through inviting others to learn about his beliefs.

You may ask yourself WHAT am I inviting others to do and HOW do I do that? An important part of inviting is asking direct questions. In preach my gospel, we learn that “An invitation often takes the form of a ‘will you’ question, which requires a yes or no response. Invitations should be specific, direct, and clear. They invite or lead people to decide on a course of action. They require them to make a commitment and to exercise active faith in the principles you have taught them”. Don’t be afraid to promise people blessings, bear testimony, and follow up. In the Gospel Library App click “Sharing the Gospel” then click “How to Share” to view several different short videos showing examples of members inviting others to “Come and See”, “Come and Help”, and to “Come and Stay”.
